Primary Block – Capitol Public School
Our recently completed projects have attempted to create environments that consider the specific needs of their diminutive users, both in terms of how they negotiate space and how they respond to surroundings that engage and stimulate, while at the same time producing expressive buildings that can be appreciated on an aesthetic level by the more adult of us.
One such project is the Preprimary block of Capitol Public School which comprises 27 classrooms, a 5000SQ.FT Play Area, A multipurpose hall that can accommodate 300, A lavish admin block and an Indoor games room.
The design uses the open slab of the basement as a play area, converting it to a center, a quadrangle and a constant reference that binds the various spaces of the school spread across 4 floors. The design focuses on the idea of scale for the kindergarten, small corridors, decently sized playrooms with heightened ceilings; Extra-large windows wash the spaces with light complementing the tones of solid colors and patterns of tiles used on the floor.
