Research center for Camson Bio-technologies Ltd
Our design for Camson Biotechnologies is a research laboratory located on a 2 acre plot. This slot of land was a part of a larger farm located in Dhodaballapur, a town that is about 50km from Bangalore .The facility has 6 laboratories, a huge administration wing and a cold storage for the produce in the basement.
Our challenge was to create an international styling for the laboratory with an aesthetic that will tie it to the strong rhythm of the site/farm. The design has the building tied to the ground with sweeping steps, huge decks and cantilevered terraces. The use of glass is restricted and the height deliberately contained to G+1 to help the massing and the aesthetic. As one walks along the building, the east and western walls sweep gently forming two concave curves with deeply punctured walls to help in maintaining temperature on the inside of the various spaces.
A Huge linear skylight flanks the center of the building creating an atrium with a great flow of energy and light. An auditorium that can accommodate 100, A huge dining with a kitchen for all scientists and a 10,000Sq.ft basement that acts as a cold freeze are other functions of the design.
